sermonette: Countering the Culture
Letting the Bible Be Our Culture
Mark S. Baker
Given 01-May-04; Sermon #664s; 13 minutes
Description: (hide)
Mark Baker, focusing upon the characteristics identified in II Timothy 3:1-4, suggested that our current "me first" hedonistic culture in modern Israel exemplifies the conditions described by the Apostle Paul. The loose moral values Paul had to correct in the Corinthian congregation describe current cultural conditions in America. To counter the pernicious influences of popular culture, we must (1) recognize aspects of popular culture which have infiltrated into our lives, (2) develop appropriate moral convictions, (3) stop worrying about what other people think, and (4) stand up for what we believe. We need to let the Bible be our culture.
