sermonette: Who Were Jannes and Jambres?
Those Who Oppose God
Charles Whitaker
Given 08-May-04; Sermon #665s; 13 minutes
Description: (hide)
In this message, Charles Whitaker focuses upon the contemporaries of Moses, the magicians Jannes and Jambres, referred to by Paul in II Timothy, extracting further information about these brothers from Hellenist extra-biblical sources, namely the Book of Jannes and Jambres. Their chief character traits include rebellion, obduracy, and stubbornness, acknowledging or recognizing the truth, but adamantly refusing to yield to it and refusing to repent reaping hideous curses. Their obduracy was a contributory cause of Egypt's demise. Their example warns us that in these last days there will also be people who adamantly resist God, but will ultimately perish in the lake of fire. We need to take heed not to follow their pathetic example.
