David Grabbe focuses upon the miracle of our calling, a process requiring God's direct involvement. God the Father draws a person to Him through the medium of His Word, and then provides a gift of faith enabling him to understand and act upon this Word. Grace and faith are given by God through His Holy Spirit, and cannot be worked- up individually, although the sanctification process requires our rigorous active involvement. Pentecost pictures the early harvest, depicting a small selected group of predestinated or pre-ordained called-out ones, sustained by faith supplied by God through the power of His Holy Spirit.
