sermonette: Conscience Towards God

A Governor For The Things We Do
Ted E. Bowling
Given 11-Sep-04; Sermon #684s; 13 minutes

Description: (hide)

Ted Bowling, focusing upon I Peter 2:19-20, addresses the need to endure wrongful suffering for the sake of conscience and developing the positive character trait or spiritual fruit of patience. Probably the principal figure (outside of Christ) who demonstrated this trait was Joseph (a type of Christ). Even though Joseph did not cause the evil events that befell him, he nevertheless did not complain nor did he compromise his morality, but patiently endured all God allowed him to go through without complaining- prefiguring the mindset of Jesus Christ. We need to emulate Joseph and our Elder Brother Jesus Christ, developing the submissive attitude of a servant.
