sermonette: 'To Him That Hath...'
Our Concept of God Affects Our Eternal Destiny
Bill Cherry
Given 26-Feb-05; Sermon #707s; 15 minutes
Description: (hide)
Focusing upon the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25, Bill Cherry concludes that our concept of God (or misconception- resulting from breaking the Second Commandment) could adversely affect our eternal destiny. The servant with one talent formulated a negative concept of a stingy, arbitrary, unfair God and conducted his life accordingly. The other servants had developed a more positive attitude toward God, trusting that God had treated them equitably, not demanding more than they were capable of performing. We need to learn to trust God, growing in grace in knowledge, applying the spiritual gifts and talents that have been given to us- learning by application.
