Bill Onisick, focusing upon the incident (Matthew 26: 7, Mark 14:3, John12: 3) in which Mary of Bethany anointed the feet and head of Jesus with expensive Spikenard oil, considers both the indignation of the disciples and the approbation from Christ, commending Mary for her sacrifice (equivalent to an entire yearly salary) at a great cost to her,and in the process had guaranteed an eternal memorial for herself.Mary had anointed the royal priest who would make atonement for her (and all of our) sins. We must emulate Mary in our willingness to sacrifice all we have.
