sermonette: Power

Faithfulness With a Little Strength
David C. Grabbe
Given 28-May-05; Sermon #721s; 15 minutes

Description: (hide)

David Grabbe, reflecting upon different contexts of the word power, including natural events and political power, focuses upon miraculous and supernatural power of God's Holy Spirit, transliterated from the Greek as the word dunamis. Through God's Holy Spirit, God augments the meager power and aptitude of His called out ones in order to fulfill His will and purpose. Because God called the weak and the base, we have only a small amount of power or capacity to fulfill our obligations, but with God's Spirit (dunamis), we can fulfill God's commands, walking through the door God has opened to us—perhaps the door to the Kingdom itself. If we are faithful with the small measure of dunamis we have been given, God will reward us with greater powers after the resurrection.
