sermonette: Dealing With Contention
Use Meekness and Love Toward Contentious People
Bill Cherry
Given 18-Jun-05; Sermon #724s; 15 minutes
Description: (hide)
Bill Cherry, focusing upon Philippians 1:15-17, asks, "How shall we respond to people who seem to practice their faith with hypocrisy or pretentiousness?" Following the example of the apostle Paul, we should not worry about hidden motives of others, but instead practice our own faith with compassion, mercy, humility, and lowliness of mind, esteeming others above ourselves, avoiding contention by allowing the love of God to abound in our lives. We ought to be praying for others, giving encouragement, anticipating that we can be a part of the harvest of firstfruits.
