Using the analogy of the construction of the newly completed Church of the Great God Building, Ted Bowling draws five comparisons between the construction of the new building and the development of our spiritual lives. Both require: (1) The need of a solid foundation; our foundation can only be in Jesus Christ, (2) the need for patience in dealing with seeming delays,(3) the need for perseverance in the encountering of obstacles (Romans 5:3-4) realizing that our character becomes refined and sharpened by them,(4) the need for wisdom(Proverbs 24:3), realizing that we may have to make adjustments to rapidly changing conditions, and (5) the need to support each other. If we as members of God’s spiritual building are solidly focused, having our foundation in Christ, we will be impervious to destruction.
