sermonette: Don't Get Caught Out In The Cold

Spiritual Hypothermia
Mark S. Baker
Given 17-Sep-05; Sermon #738s; 14 minutes

Description: (hide)

Mark Baker, recounting the Titanic disaster of 93 years ago, focuses on the process of hyperthermia (a condition in which the body rapidly loses heat because the blood supply moves to save the vital organs. As the temperature drops from 97-77 degrees, the organism expires. Spiritual hypothermia occurs when lawlessness increases, causing the love of the truth to grow cold. Our former fellowship succumbed to spiritual hypothermia, letting the zeal for God?s truth to grow cold, causing God to regurgitate the lukewarm contents from His mouth. To prevent spiritual hyperthermia, we need to be clothed in righteousness, eating the right spiritual food- the Bread of Life- Christ, ingested by regular daily prayer, regular daily Bible study, and regular fasting. We need to fight spiritual lethargy by having zeal and passion for Christ and His righteousness. According to Coach Vince Lombardi, ?If you weren?t fired up with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm.?
