sermonette: The Danger of Outside Suggestion

Hypnosis
Martin G. Collins
Given 13-May-06; Sermon #774s; 17 minutes

Description: (hide)

Martin Collins suggests that yielding to hypnosis makes one vulnerable to forces outside his mind and goes against the biblical injunction to bring every thought into captivity. Reality TV often features individuals who have yielded themselves to hypnotic suggestion, making fools of themselves in the process. Subjects under hypnotherapy have recalled spurious details under the suggestion of the therapist- a pure confabulation or fantasy. Any time a person gives his mind over to outside forces, there is the ever present danger of inviting in unwanted spiritual or demonic forces from the outside. We are admonished to fill our minds with positive content, largely with wholesome thoughts derived from God’s word. We have a mandate to control and guard our minds, protecting them from evil forces or Satanic demonic influences, using the full armor of God, bringing them under captivity of Christ’s mind through God’s Holy Spirit.
