sermonette: Three Aspects of Faith
Simple Believing, Trust, and Christ as the Goal
John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 15-Jul-06; Sermon #784s; 21 minutes
Description: (hide)
John Ritenbaugh, focusing on Luke 7:29-30, claims that nothing is more important than acting on faith. The doctors of the law blocked, frustrated, and rejected the counsel of God to their own detriment while the common people accepted God's counsel. There are three aspects or levels of faith which must work together in order to achieve desirable spiritual growth: (1) simple acceptance – the belief God exists, the same kind possessed by demons (2) reposing within- indicating an active reliance upon or leaning against, and (3) the faith of Christ in which Christ becomes the goal, something we are actually moving toward, namely taking on Christ's mind and nature.
