Because everybody seems to be sensitive to words these days, we, as Christians, need to be careful in our use of language, especially those who act in the capacity of teachers. We need to be as consistent in our speech as a spring of water or the fruit of a tree. When we blend sweet with bitter, bad with good, thistles with fruit, we commit sin. We have to work toward God's intent of being consistently good and speaking good things. The words of the heart reflect the contents of the innermost being. We reveal our character in unguarded moments. Our rash words in these unguarded moments will be factored into our eternal judgment. Despite many a slip between the tongue and the lip, changing the heart is the place to start.
