sermonette: The Concept of Focus

Clyde Finklea
Given 27-Sep-07; Sermon #FT07-03s; 21 minutes

Description: (hide)

Clyde Finklea, reflecting on the topic of faith, asserts that the essence of a Christian life demands that we know God while staying focused on His truths. Having knowledge without having focus (for strengthening our faith or developing attitudes) is worse than not having knowledge at all. From early experience in the Pony League of baseball, he learned from Coach Brown and "Miss Emily" (the paddle) the need for focus in keeping the eye on the ball. Likewise the apostle Paul admonishes that we stay focused, keeping our eye on the goal of the destination for our Christian race, namely the Kingdom of God, throwing aside all things, focusing on the testimony of a great cloud of witnesses and especially upon Jesus Christ"s example.
