sermonette: The Nanny Church
Internal vs. External Control
David C. Grabbe
Given 20-Oct-07; Sermon #851s; 17 minutes
Description: (hide)
David Grabbe, reflecting on the premise of David Harsanyi's book, Nanny State, states that the left-wing politicians want to regulate many things that should be a matter of choice, arrogantly believing that government can make better people, suggests that many church groups in and out of the greater church of God want to create a Nanny Church for the same reason. When this insidious mindset takes root, character growth is thwarted because choices are no longer encouraged. The solution to the nanny state is self-government. Where the Holy Spirit is working, there is no need for external controls, but inner controls will emanate from the heart.
