sermonette: Peacemaking and Unity

Peacemaking is submitting to God
John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 10-May-08; Sermon #881s; 20 minutes

Description: (hide)

John Ritenbaugh reiterates that disunity emanates from a poor or tenuous relationship with God. Before godly love can exist, one has to have a solid relationship with God, produced by prayer, Bible study, and meditation. A person with this relationship with God has the fruits of the Spirit to create the conditions of peace. But the person with a carnal mind is continually at enmity with God. Consequently, most of the world cannot possibly attain peace. God cannot be there for a people sinning against Him. Sin always creates disunity. The Sons of God are inherently Peacemakers, reflecting an intrinsic part of our Heavenly Father's nature. The first step to promoting peace is to submit to God at every opportunity throughout our lives, putting down the prompts of our carnal human nature. Ironically, until God"s Kingdom is established on this earth, living God's way will perhaps bring about peace within the church, but will automatically produce conflict everywhere else.
