sermonette: Privilege, Responsibility, And Judgment

John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 14-Oct-08; Sermon #FT08-02s; 16 minutes

Description: (hide)

In this offertory message, John Ritenbaugh, focusing on the topic of responsibility, suggests that every society has its privileged class, the movers and shakers, being exempt from some things demanded of the rest of society. Nevertheless, the privileged class has been given weighty responsibilities not demanded from the rest of society. The haves are supposed to be a source of help to the have-nots. The third tithe is a responsibility of God's privileged called out ones to take care of the widow, the orphan, and the poor. God demands liberality from everyone. The privileged have the obligation to take care of the poor, to be of assistance to those less privileged. We need to remember that God Almighty owns everything. We are granted the privilege of tithing to take care of God"s Work and the needs of the less privileged. To whom much has been given much will be required. To him who is faithful, God gives even more responsibility. We need to give according to the blessings given to us. The called out ones in the Israel of God have an infinitely greater blessing and a greater sense of responsibility.
