sermonette: I Want to Be First
Pentecost
Ronny H. Graham
Given 09-May-09; Sermon #937s; 19 minutes
Description: (hide)
Ronny Graham, anticipating the coming of Pentecost, analyzes the agricultural harvest symbolism of this event, picturing a first spiritual harvest. In sports, being first is an obsession, with our culture driven by competition and pride, encouraging a "winner take all" mentality. The desire to be first (or the greatest) runs contrary to God's pattern of leadership. We do not have to waste precious time competing with our brother. Because we have been chosen by God as His First Fruits, we do not have to worry about empty worldly competition. We need to have the tenacity to hold on to what God has given us.
