commentary: Vision

There Must be a Connecton Between Long and Short Goals
John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 23-May-09; Sermon #939c; 9 minutes

Description: (hide)

John Ritenbaugh, reflecting on the English woman Suzanne Boyle who sang the plaintive song, "I Dreamed a Dream" from Le Miserables, a poignant call of despair when fornication and pregnancy rendered her life hellish, Fanteme laments, "My life would be so different from the hell I am living. Life has killed the dream I dreamed." If we allow it, the world in which we live would destroy our vision of the World Tomorrow. Simply to have the vision is not enough; it must be supported by the reality of a plan or a program to attain this goal, a feat harder to attain than we first thought. We must develop the self control to achieve incremental goals, connecting a daily ethic to the long term goal which is inextricably attached to the dream.
