sermonette: Life in the Quarry

Living Stones Being Shaped by God
Ted E. Bowling
Given 24-Oct-09; Sermon #961s; 15 minutes

Description: (hide)

Ted Bowling, referring to I Peter 2:4-5, focuses on the concept of the living stones, suggesting that we are fellow living stones with our Elder Brother Jesus Christ. We have been set apart for this special temple. In addition, we are individual temples of God's Holy Spirit. The Chief Corner Stone, the foundation stone, is Jesus Christ, from which we are all fitted. In Solomon's temple, all of the stones were chiseled and shaped in the quarry so that no tool had to be used as they were assembled at the temple site. The world from which we are called is our quarry where we are hewn, chiseled, and polished, having the carnality whacked off from us, shaped into the image of Jesus Christ, the corner stone, chiseled and polished into perfect godly character without a crack or blemish, to be a pillar or living stone in the temple.
