The breastplate of the armor of God has to be impervious to the weapons of fire. Integrity and righteousness (God's character), anchored by the belt of truth, protects us from being compromised from misguided self-will and self-righteousness. Faith and love (qualities as strong as the power of death) are other aspects analogized by the breastplate. God's love protects us against anxiety and despair.
