commentary: Compromise
"Big Deals" Just Make Things Worse
Richard T. Ritenbaugh
Given 30-Jul-11; Sermon #1059c; 16 minutes
Description: (hide)
Richard Ritenbaugh reflects on the dearth of leadership in this country, with the socialist collective policies of the Democrats and the spineless “let’s get along approach” of the Republicans. In a smoky back room, a sinister sell-out bill is being crafted, making the debt ceiling situation infinitely worse. It never gets better. Every time a politician promises a “cut,” he simply pulls forward the baseline, and the country still increases expenditure. Bi-partisan “big deals” have always been sell-outs, with the left wing snookering the seemingly clueless and naïve Conservatives. The debt will eventually sink the ship of state like a leaky lead submarine, as the trade deficits continue to mount. Grand compromises have never boded well for America, including the present ill-advised Boehner Bill.
