Richard Ritenbaugh, reflecting on the recent assassination of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, delves into some of the biblical prophecies concerning Libya, tracing its genealogy to the sons of Ham, namely the family of Phut, related to Cush, Canaan, and Mizraim, having also kin on the Indian subcontinent. Almost all of these peoples have been assimilated into the Muslim religions. Libya has always been subjugated to a stronger power. When Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the Syrian Army, Egypt ceased to be a significant power ever again. Libya, taking the side of Egypt, was quashed, as a part of God’s vengeance on Egypt, enemies of God’s people. Libya felt the shame of a conquered people, falling prey to Nebuchadnezzar and Babylon, and all the successive empires in Daniel’s prophecy. Eventually, Libya will again fall prey to the King of the North, as will Egypt. At the end-time Libya, they will be allied with Gog and Magog, only to be totally destroyed.
