commentary: The I.R.S. Is Moving

Closing In On R. Weinland
John W. Ritenbaugh
Given 07-Jan-12; Sermon #1082c; 10 minutes

Description: (hide)

John Ritenbaugh, defining a tax as a compulsory ‘contribution’ to support the government, and an onerous, unpleasant burden, suggests that tax collectors have always been looked upon as legal thieves. We must remember that “Caesar is allowed only what God has permitted.” IRS regulations have become more numerous over the years and more rigorously enforced. God is infinitely more generous than the IRS operatives, who demand a meticulous paper trail. God’s tax system is straightforward, man’s system is convoluted and complex, making it difficult to comply.
