sermonette: Use God's Word as a Mirror
Make Sure You Are Not Deceived!
Bill Cherry
Given 07-Oct-01; Sermon #FT01-10s; 21 minutes
Description: (hide)
Bill Cherry, focusing upon the mirror metaphor found in James 1: 23, suggests that if we honestly look into God's word, we should see the state of our godly deeds reflected. Our deeds should resemble the image God has for us, beginning with our begettal and nourishment (on scriptural food), our state as firstfruits - going through experiences or exercises (doing rather than hearing about it) qualifying us for responsibilities in His Kingdom, using God's word as our constant mirror. If we don't model our behavior after the high standards found throughout the Bible, we will be dreadfully deceived
