sermonette: Longing for God
The Example of David
Ted E. Bowling
Given 06-Jul-02; Sermon #566s; 18 minutes
Description: (hide)
Using a metaphor from Psalm 32, (the deer panting after water), Ted Bowling dramatizes the intense thirst and longing that we need to have for God. The context of this Psalm was the intense danger in which David found himself being pursued by Absalom. In his state of acute danger, David actively thirsted for intimacy with God and a place of refuge or safety. A hunter in the Charlotte congregation actually witnessed a deer swimming down a river in search of sanctuary. When we have the hunger and thirst for God, we will be diligent in our prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with God and our brethren.
