telecast: The Religion of Judaism
Matthew 15:1-8, Mark 7:1-8
Herbert W. Armstrong (1892-1986)
Given 01-Jan-79; Sermon #RAD8071; 28 minutes
Description: (hide)
Herbert W. Armstrong, reflecting on the history of the Jewish people and the reason for their captivity under the Chaldeans prior to the time of Ezra and Nehemiah, observes that many former captives, fearing another captivity, formulated strict human regulations to 'guarantee' that the Sabbath law would never again be transgressed. Paradoxically these man-made regulations also profaned the Sabbath Day by making it an irksome burden.Following the days of Ezra and Nehemiah,Judaism emerged as a religion which incorporated the non-biblical Gentile principles of penance and self-affliction. Similarly, many 'Christian' denominations may give lip service to Christ, but cloud and obscure His message with their man-made traditions based upon rank, abominable paganism. The booklet The Ten Commandments was offered on this program.
