telecast: Vanity/Self-esteem
Genesis 2:17, John 7:37, Acts 5:32
Herbert W. Armstrong (1892-1986)
Given 01-Jan-34; Sermon #TWT2194A; 30 minutes
Description: (hide)
Herbert W. Armstrong observes that human nature attempts to rise above a sense of innate inferiority by exalting self over others - vanity. Coddling, protecting, or inflating the ego seems to be the chief objective of modern psychology. God deliberately created man incomplete - to feel a void, lack, or emptiness that cries out to be fulfilled. Paradoxically, the way to fill this void is to empty oneself of vanity, ego, or self-confidence, replacing it with faith in God - the only means to satisfy this intense spiritual hunger or thirst. The booklets Why Were You Born? and Does God Exist? were offered on this program.
