Herbert W. Armstrong, focusing upon the prophecies in Jeremiah 30:11 reveals that Almighty God, in a motive of Agape love, will punish His people (Modern Israel - the descendants of Jacob, the peoples of America and Britain) for their own good. In an exposition of the different nuances of love, this message makes a clear distinction between what is counterfeited as love (ego-driven self-gratification) and godly love (motivated by concern for others). Ironically and paradoxically, correction and discipline (physical punishment) indicate God's concern (mature love) for His people's welfare.
