telecast: The One True Church
II Thessalonians 2:1-12, II Timothy 3:1-5,4:4, Revelation 12: 13-17, 17:5
Herbert W. Armstrong (1892-1986)
Given 01-Jan-79; Sermon #HA507A; 28 minutes
Description: (hide)
Herbert W. Armstrong insists that the one church Jesus built was never to become a large organization taking part in the political systems of this world or absorbing the heathen and gentile customs of the world's cultures, but instead would be a small, scattered, often persecuted flock (an invisible organism)- largely despised by the world. The dominant religious system called Babylon the Great consists of a confused amalgamation of pagan beliefs and customs veneered over with 'Christian' window dressing, attempting to influence the politics of this world. Most of the world has been deceived through being immersed in this world's culture-or kosmos. The true church that Jesus built does not derive its traditions from this world's customs or practices, but yields to God's direction, performing His work of proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. The booklet Just What Do You Mean Conversion? was offered on this program.
