telecast: Animal Brain/Human Mind

Genesis 1: 24; 2:7-17, John 6:44, I Corinthians 2:9-16
Herbert W. Armstrong (1892-1986)
Given 01-Jan-34; Sermon #TWT2340A; 30 minutes

Description: (hide)

Herbert W. Armstrong marvels that although physically indistinguishable from animal brains(some animal brains are actually larger), the qualitative output of the human brain is exponentially far greater. Humans, created in God's image, have been endowed with minds capable of thinking, reasoning, and creating. The spirit in man imparts intellect - capable of analyzing and controlling things, but pitifully incapable of solving human relationship problems - a capability requiring a spiritual component or dimension. We are made to require another spirit that we do not inherently possess. Without this Holy Spirit (symbolized by the Tree of Life in Genesis 2:9), we are not complete or not 'all there.' The booklet Why Were You Born? was offered on this program.
