sermonette: Contentment Is Learned
Christ Strenghtens Us
Martin G. Collins
Given 25-Jan-03; Sermon #594s; 12 minutes
Description: (hide)
Martin Collins, addressing the problem of contentment, points out that we as a nation seem to have inherited a tendency to complain from our ancient forebears, complaining about the unfairness of our lot, seemingly blaming God for our circumstances. True contentment is a state of mind given as a gift by God. Contentment does not come without work, but must be developed as the result of weathering trials by the faith of Christ. Following the example of the Apostle Paul, we ought to meet both good times and trials with contentment, realizing that God is always fair in what He allows.
