Humanity shares Planet Earth with angels, a significant influence on human life. The biblical truth reveals that some of these angels are invisible, evil enemies, referred to as demons, which we must resist to overcome sin. The Bible does not ignore the presence of both good angels and demons, though its primary focus is on God's dealings with mankind. Angels were created before Adam and Eve, and while humans die as a result of sin, sinning angels continue to live on, their movements restricted to the earth unless called before God. Despite their longevity, the penalty for their sins appears limited to a measure of constraint, allowing them to continue deceiving and harassing mankind. Scripture indicates a future reckoning for these sinning angels. Jesus' words in Matthew 25:41 speak of an everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels, suggesting a severe judgment. Ezekiel 28:16-19 portends a major disaster for the anointed cherub at some future time. The demonic spirits themselves express fear of destruction by Jesus' spiritual power, acknowledging a set time for their torment, though not necessarily implying extinction but rather a loss of well-being. Scripturally, the wages of unrepented sin is death, and as angels are living beings with the liberty to make moral choices, they too are subject to God's judgment. God's purging of sin includes the works of sinning angels, who are not excused as He cleanses the earth of sin's contamination. The prophecies of the New Heaven and New Earth, as described in Isaiah 65:17 and Revelation 21:1, allow no room for any sin, not even in memory. Scripture speaks of a righteousness so pure that even the defiled remnants of living beings, including sinning angels, will be burned in the Lake of Fire. Nothing will mar the pure moral and spiritual environment of this new creation, ensuring that satan and his fellow demon spirits will not endure through the final judgment.

God created the earth in a state of perfect order and beauty as a habitation for angels. He placed the super archangel Lucifer in charge of administering His government over the angels on earth. Lucifer and the angels under his rule were given the potential to help finish and improve the physical universe according to God's will. The earth remained under the subjection of angels until the rebellion occurred. Lucifer led a third of the angels in sin against God and sought to exalt his throne above the stars of God. This sin wrecked the earth and reduced it to a state of chaos and confusion between the original creation and the later recreation described in Genesis. Some of the sinning angels remain restricted to the earth in chains of darkness. The present world continues under the subjection of these fallen angels. Satan the Devil leads them as the god of this world and the prince of the power of the air. They rule the earth ruthlessly and negatively influence its inhabitants until the world to come arrives under a different order.
