  • Amos 3:2
    "You only have I known of all the families of the earth;
    Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities."

  • Hosea 2:2-13
    'Bring charges against your mother, bring charges;
    For she is not My wife, nor am I her Husband!
    Let her put away her harlotries from her sight,
    And her adulteries from between her breasts;
    Lest I strip her naked
    And expose her, as in the day she was born,
    And make her like a wilderness,
    And set her like a dry land,
    And slay her with thirst.
    ' I will not have mercy on her children,
    For they are the children of harlotry.
    For their mother has played the harlot;
    She who conceived them has behaved shamefully.
    For she said, 'I will go after my lovers,
    Who give me my bread and my water,
    My wool and my linen,
    My oil and my drink.'
    “ Therefore, behold,
    I will hedge up your way with thorns,
    And wall her in,
    So that she cannot find her paths.
    She will chase her lovers,
    But not overtake them;
    Yes, she will seek them, but not find them.
    Then she will say,
    ‘ I will go and return to my first husband,
    For then it was better for me than now.’
    For she did not know
    That I gave her grain, new wine, and oil,
    And multiplied her silver and gold'
    Which they prepared for Baal.
    “ Therefore I will return and take away
    My grain in its time
    And My new wine in its season,
    And will take back My wool and My linen,
    Given to cover her nakedness.
    Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers,
    And no one shall deliver her from My hand.
    I will also cause all her mirth to cease,
    Her feast days,
    Her New Moons,
    Her Sabbaths—
    All her appointed feasts.
    “ And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees,
    Of which she has said,
    ‘ These are my wages that my lovers have given me.’
    So I will make them a forest,
    And the beasts of the field shall eat them.
    I will punish her
    For the days of the Baals to which she burned incense.
    She decked herself with her earrings and jewelry,
    And went after her lovers;
    But Me she forgot,” says the LORD.

  • Hosea 1:2
    When the LORD began to speak by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea:
    ' Go, take yourself a wife of harlotry
    And children of harlotry,
    For the land has committed great harlotry
    By departing from the LORD.'

  • Hosea 4:11-13
    "Harlotry, wine, and new wine enslave the heart.
    My people ask counsel from their wooden idols,
    And their staff informs them.
    For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray,
    And they have played the harlot against their God.
    They offer sacrifices on the mountaintops,
    And burn incense on the hills,
    Under oaks, poplars, and terebinths,
    Because their shade is good.
    Therefore your daughters commit harlotry,
    And your brides commit adultery.

  • Exodus 24:7
    Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the LORD has said we will do, and be obedient.”

  • Jeremiah 3:1-3
    "They say, 'If a man divorces his wife,
    And she goes from him
    And becomes another man's,
    May he return to her again?'
    Would not that land be greatly polluted?
    But you have played the harlot with many lovers;
    Yet return to Me," says the LORD.
    "Lift up your eyes to the desolate heights and see:
    Where have you not lain with men?
    By the road you have sat for them
    Like an Arabian in the wilderness;
    And you have polluted the land
    With your harlotries and your wickedness.
    Therefore the showers have been withheld,
    And there has been no latter rain.
    You have had a harlot's forehead;
    You refuse to be ashamed.

  • Jeremiah 3:6-11
    The LORD said also to me in the days of Josiah the king: 'Have you seen what backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there played the harlot. And I said, after she had done all these things, ‘Return to Me.’ But she did not return. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it. Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also. So it came to pass, through her casual harlotry, that she defiled the land and committed adultery with stones and trees. And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not turned to Me with her whole heart, but in pretense," says the LORD. Then the LORD said to me, "Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.

  • Ezekiel 16:8
    'When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,' says the Lord GOD.

  • Ezekiel 16:44-48
    “Indeed everyone who quotes proverbs will use this proverb against you: ‘Like mother, like daughter!’ You are your mother’s daughter, loathing husband and children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and children; your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite. “Your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells with her daughters to the north of you; and your younger sister, who dwells to the south of you, is Sodom and her daughters. You did not walk in their ways nor act according to their abominations; but, as if that were too little, you became more corrupt than they in all your ways. “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “neither your sister Sodom nor her daughters have done as you and your daughters have done.

  • Hosea 7:4
    " They are all adulterers.
    Like an oven heated by a baker—
    He ceases stirring the fire after kneading the dough,
    Until it is leavened.

  • Romans 8:7
    Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

  • Deuteronomy 7:7-9
    The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. "Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

  • 2 Kings 17:10-16
    They set up for themselves sacred pillars and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. There they burned incense on all the high places, like the nations whom the LORD had carried away before them; and they did wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger, for they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.” Yet the LORD testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets.” Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. And they rejected His statutes and His covenant that He had made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He had testified against them; they followed idols, became idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them. So they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, made for themselves a molded image and two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

  • Isaiah 47:1
    “Come down and sit in the dust,
    O virgin daughter of Babylon;
    Sit on the ground without a throne,
    O daughter of the Chaldeans!
    For you shall no more be called
    Tender and delicate.

  • Ezekiel 16:27-30
    “Behold, therefore, I stretched out My hand against you, diminished your allotment, and gave you up to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd behavior. You also played the harlot with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; indeed you played the harlot with them and still were not satisfied. Moreover you multiplied your acts of harlotry as far as the land of the trader, Chaldea; and even then you were not satisfied. “How degenerate is your heart!” says the Lord GOD, “seeing you do all these things, the deeds of a brazen harlot.

  • Ezekiel 16:50-51
    And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit. “Samaria did not commit half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all the abominations which you have done.

  • Hosea 4:1-2
    Hear the word of the LORD,
    You children of Israel,
    For the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land:
    "There is no truth or mercy
    Or knowledge of God in the land.
    By swearing and lying,
    Killing and stealing and committing adultery,
    They break all restraint,
    With bloodshed upon bloodshed.

  • Hebrews 3:12

  • Exodus 32:1-5
    Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, "Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him." And Aaron said to them, "Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me." So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, "This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!" So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, "Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD."

You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place. You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things.

    And they bore sons and daughters.
