According to the Dictionary of Biblical Imagery, the temple built by Solomon was the largest structure of its kind in the Middle East, described in Psalm 48:12-13. As we begin our count to Pentecost, we find significant spiritual parallels with the timing of the building of Solomons' Temple, which began the fourth year of the month of Ziv, the second month having no holy days falling in the month, but the count to Pentecost running through it. Ziv occurs in the springtime when the sun is in the sky for a longer period, enabling working in the light, a preferred time to start and plan a project. In I Corinthians 3:16-17, we learn that God's church, His called-out saints, constitute the Temple of God. In I Kings 6:37-38, we learn that both the beginning and conclusion of Solomon's physical temple occurred in the month of Ziv, where no holy days occur. From the foundation to its final details, the project took seven years to complete. The timing of the physical temple anticipates the timing of spiritual temple, which corresponds to the seven days of the spring Feast, beginning the count to Pentecost, where the First Fruits will be harvested. Almighty God works out His timing to perfection. The building of His temple physically and spiritually is no different. David wanted to build a house for the Lord, a house where one lives and dwells. Solomon's house for God was torn down; it did not last. But the house/temple Christ is building, consisting of God's called-out saints, is still being worked on, and will be completed, each and every part. It will last forever. Once it is fully prepared, God will dwell in His house with His Family.
