The story of Haman teaches the high cost of bitterness. Because one man didn't pay him the respect he thought he deserved, Haman allowed himself to become consumed with bitterness, ultimately jeopardizing his relationship with the king. Haman's festering wrath against Mordecai generalized to the whole Jewish community. Ironically, the evil thing that Haman had purposed to others boomeranged back upon him, while the favors he desired for himself were lavished upon his enemy. Haman was hanged; Mordecai was honored, and the Jewish community was rescued from extermination.
