Satan is capable of deceiving the very elect. Satan can and does duplicate surface outer behaviors, including a "spiritual way" of talking, a vast knowledge of the scriptures, a demonstration of faith, and high standards of righteousness. The godly spirit is identified as one who has totally surrendered to God, having totally died to self, and demonstrates the fruits of God's Holy Spirit, including love, longsuffering, and kindness. Love is the measuring cup of our true spiritual maturity.
