It is difficult to communicate with people who speak a different language, whether we are speaking of a literal language or a love language. Dr. Gary Chapman, in his book The Five Love Languages, identified five distinct love idioms: words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. Chapman suggested that four out of five people we know speak a different love language, finding another's mode of expression incomprehensible. It is necessary to learn another person's love language in order to make communication possible, whether with a spouse or someone in the church. In order to love others, we must understand them. It takes time to learn another's love language, enabling us to edify and inspire. God is love, a quality which we have to learn over a period of time. Loving someone is a choice backed by action, requiring work, sacrifice, and time. It is incumbent upon us to become proficient in all five love languages. The scattering of the greater church of God has resulted, in part, from a growing cold of the agape love embers. Before reconciliation with the other splinters can occur, we must become reconciled to God, the source of omni-agape love. God has indeed affirmed His love in His Words; we must reciprocate this affirmation of love back to God. God gave us the gift of His Son, His Spirit, His Word, His Church, and His invitation to become His children. God has given His quality time through His Sabbath and Holy Days, as well as the medium of prayer.
