The Tour de France is a grueling bicycle race. Just to train for this race require more than 20,000 hours of practice. This event takes three weeks over 2,200 miles, demanding almost superhuman endurance, agony, and struggle. Similarly, as called out ones, we are in an agonizing, grueling, life-time spiritual race, into which Satan throws in deadly obstacles and hardship. This race takes teamwork to endure; no rider has all the necessary skills for each part of the race. We are not all sprinters, utility racers, or mountain climbers, but we have all been given specific skills that complement the team's deficits. Each of Christ's disciples had a specific responsibility in the team, even Judas, who carried the money bags. Desperation was expressed by Jesus Christ as He called out to the disciples to labor with Him in prayer. Like the members of the Tour de France, we must reach out to one another, helping each one to cross the finish line. God does not expect us to ride the spiritual race alone, but admonishes that we help one another, reminding that He will never lead us, no matter how long thus grueling race will last, but we know that an imperishable crown is the reward for all who finish the course.
