  • Isaiah 1:10-17
    Hear the word of the LORD,
    You rulers of Sodom;
    Give ear to the law of our God,
    You people of Gomorrah:
    "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?"
    Says the LORD.
    " I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
    And the fat of fed cattle.
    I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
    Or of lambs or goats.
    "When you come to appear before Me,
    Who has required this from your hand,
    To trample My courts?
    Bring no more futile sacrifices;
    Incense is an abomination to Me.
    The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies—
    I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.
    Your New Moons and your appointed feasts
    My soul hates;
    They are a trouble to Me,
    I am weary of bearing them.
    When you spread out your hands,
    I will hide My eyes from you;
    Even though you make many prayers,
    I will not hear.
    Your hands are full of blood.
    "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
    Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.
    Cease to do evil,
    Learn to do good;
    Seek justice,
    Rebuke the oppressor;
    Defend the fatherless,
    Plead for the widow.

  • Matthew 6:24
    “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

  • 2 Kings 17:33
    They feared the LORD, yet served their own gods—according to the rituals of the nations from among whom they were carried away.

  • Jeremiah 7:1-7
    The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, “Stand in the gate of the LORD’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, all you of Judah who enter in at these gates to worship the LORD!’” Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Do not trust in these lying words, saying, "The temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD are these." "For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor, if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt, then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.

  • Amos 5:21-26
    "I hate, I despise your feast days,
    And I do not savor your sacred assemblies.
    Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings,
    I will not accept them,
    Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.
    Take away from Me the noise of your songs,
    For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.
    But let justice run down like water,
    And righteousness like a mighty stream.
    "Did you offer Me sacrifices and offerings
    In the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
    You also carried Sikkuth your king
    And Chiun, your idols,
    The star of your gods,
    Which you made for yourselves.

  • Deuteronomy 30:19
    I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

  • Isaiah 29:13
    Therefore the Lord said:
    " Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
    And honor Me with their lips,
    But have removed their hearts far from Me,
    And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,

  • Isaiah 59:1-2
    Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened,
    That it cannot save;
    Nor His ear heavy,
    That it cannot hear.
    But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
    And your sins have hidden His face from you,
    So that He will not hear.

  • Hosea 4:11-12
    "Harlotry, wine, and new wine enslave the heart.
    My people ask counsel from their wooden idols,
    And their staff informs them.
    For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray,
    And they have played the harlot against their God.

  • Hosea 10:1-2
    Israel empties his vine;
    He brings forth fruit for himself.
    According to the multitude of his fruit
    He has increased the altars;
    According to the bounty of his land
    They have embellished his sacred pillars.
    Their heart is divided;
    Now they are held guilty.
    He will break down their altars;
    He will ruin their sacred pillars.

  • Amos 5:4-5
    For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel:
    "Seek Me and live;
    But do not seek Bethel,
    Nor enter Gilgal,
    Nor pass over to Beersheba;
    For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity,
    And Bethel shall come to nothing.

  • Amos 5:7
    You who turn justice to wormwood,
    And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!"

  • Zephaniah 1:12
    "And it shall come to pass at that time
    That I will search Jerusalem with lamps,
    And punish the men
    Who are settled in complacency,
    Who say in their heart,
    'The LORD will not do good,
    Nor will He do evil.'

  • Haggai 2:11-14
    "Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Now, ask the priests concerning the law, saying, "If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?""" Then the priests answered and said, "No." And Haggai said, "If one who is unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?" Then Haggai answered and said, ""So is this people, and so is this nation before Me," says the LORD, "and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

  • Malachi 1:6-14
    " A son honors his father,
    And a servant his master.
    If then I am the Father,
    Where is My honor?
    And if I am a Master,
    Where is My reverence?
    Says the LORD of hosts
    To you priests who despise My name.
    Yet you say, "In what way have we despised Your name?"
    " You offer defiled food on My altar,
    But say,
    " In what way have we defiled You?"
    By saying,
    " The table of the LORD is contemptible."
    And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice,
    Is it not evil?
    And when you offer the lame and sick,
    Is it not evil?
    Offer it then to your governor!
    Would he be pleased with you?
    Would he accept you favorably?'
    Says the LORD of hosts.
    ' But now entreat God's favor,
    That He may be gracious to us.
    Whilethis is being done by your hands,
    Will He accept you favorably?'
    Says the LORD of hosts.
    ' Who is there even among you who would shut the doors,
    So that you would not kindle fire on My altar in vain?
    I have no pleasure in you,'
    Says the LORD of hosts,
    ' Nor will I accept an offering from your hands.
    For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down,
    My name shall be great among the Gentiles;
    In every place incense shall be offered to My name,
    And a pure offering;
    For My name shall be great among the nations,'
    Says the LORD of hosts.
    ' But you profane it,
    In that you say,
    ' The table of the LORD is defiled;
    And its fruit, its food, is contemptible.'
    You also say,
    ‘ Oh, what a weariness!’
    And you sneer at it,”
    Says the LORD of hosts.

    Who has in his flock a male,
    And takes a vow,

    For I am a great King,”

    “ And My name is to be feared among the nations.
