Don't be a Foolish Virgin

Kim Myers, reflecting on the account in Jeremiah 1, sees a parallel warning to modern day Judah and America, as well as the greater Church of God, in the wake of the deterioration of the Worldwide Church of God and the subsequent watering down of God’s laws and doctrines. The splinters of the greater Church of God have not shown the greatest spiritual health either. We are admonished to mimic the wise virgins to keep the lamps trimmed and the oil supply continuous. If our goal is to reach the Kingdom of God, we require shepherds who steer us away from the impending dangers coming from political, economic, and spiritual sources, with the exponential, corrosive corruption in morals and character. If we are indeed living in the end times, we will need to have an augmented regimen of Bible study, prayer, fasting, and meditation, reinforcing our resolve and courage. The reality is that we desperately need to draw closer to God in repentance and zeal for the Truth. There will be plenty of distractions and obstacles slowing down our spiritual progress even though we keep putting one foot in front of the other, but God has promised to provide us guideposts and guardrails along the way. We need to develop an attitude that we can make it, realizing that God the Father has given His Son as a Forerunner. We are living in dangerous times spiritually, politically, and economically, times which seem to usher in the impending Beast Power.
