God allows trials in our lives so that we exercise patience to incrementally build faith. Patience and faith are inextricably linked. God requires that we maintain faith by exercising patience in the midst of our trials. God is the author of patience, while Satan is the author of impatience. Satan is the most restless being in the universe. Impatience steals our faith and our spiritual birthright. Although God gives us enough vision into the future to give us hope, He also gives enough uncertainty to require faith, built gradually and systematically by exercising patience. As our patience is exercised our trust and faith in God increases, but while our impatience increases, our faith in God decreases. In a trial, it is important that we don't foolishly take matters into our hands, but patiently wait for God to reveal His will. The biblical example of Hezekiah seeking an alliance with Egypt instead of waiting for God warns us not to seek our own solutions to the problem, but calmly and quietly rely on God's intervention, even when it seems as though God is taking His time.
