The Death of His Saints

CGG Weekly by David C. Grabbe

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints, as the psalmist declares in Psalm 116:15. This preciousness reflects the rarity and value of the saints, akin to scarce gems that draw attention and interest. The death of a saint holds immense significance to God because they are the objects of His deep attention and investment. He pours His time, love, grace, and instruction into them, making their passing a moment where the full weight of His efforts and their responses to Him are evident. At the moment of death, the saint's course is finished, and God sees the outcome of all He has given. Because the lives and deaths of His saints are so precious to Him, we can be confident that the death of a true Christian will not occur until God allows it. If He has begun a good work in us, we will not die until He judges that His work is complete. We are His workmanship, and only He determines when the work is finished. Matters relating to the death of one of His servants are in His hands alone, as they are precious to Him. Our focus should not be on the timing or manner of another saint's death, but on following Him, imitating His example, listening to His instruction, and growing in our relationship with Him.
