God proclaims Edom shall drink of the wine of His wrath. After the Great Tribulation comes the Day of the Lord, a time of reckoning by just retribution. Edom and the nations drink continually until they exist no more, wiped out in His day of vengeance. Jeremiah took a cup of the wine of God's wrath to nations and made their kings drink it, last to Babylon. This work declares what will occur on earth. Drinking the wine of the wrath of God means participating in divine punishments. All who drink Babylon's cup share her future.

God proclaims that Edom shall certainly drink of the wine of His wrath. Upon the heels of the Great Tribulation comes the Day of the Lord. It is a time of reckoning in which what Edom has done shall be done to it according to the principle of just retribution. God will judge Edom in the Day of His wrath so that its reprisal shall return upon its own head. For as Edom drank on His holy mountain so shall all the nations drink continually. They shall drink and swallow and they shall be as though they had never been. Edom and its confederates shall drink and drink and drink until they drink themselves right out of existence. God will deal with them in His day of vengeance and wipe them from the face of the earth.

Jeremiah was told to take a cup of God's wrath, the wine of His wrath. That wine was just symbolic, but the job that Jeremiah was given to do was not symbolic. It might have been symbolic or parallel to the work of the church at the end time. Jeremiah was commanded by God to go from nation to nation, all the enemies of Judah. One by one, he was to take them a cup of wine. Then he was to make the kings of those nations drink that wine. If they refused to drink it, Jeremiah was told, You will make them drink it. God must have given him the force of personality or whatever to make those men take that cup and to drink the wine. Last of all, he was to take it to Sheshach. Sheshach is a code name for Babylon. This work is going from nation to nation. It is taking, in a sense, the cup of wine of God's wrath and telling what will occur in these nations. What will occur on earth. Last of all, this work is going to go to Babylon, and they, too, will have to drink that cup.

Revelation 14:10 speaks of drinking of the wine of the wrath of God which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. The whole world drinks of Babylon's cup full of the wine of her fornications and abominations. All who drink of Babylon's cup will share in her future.
