We Are Not Original

Given 05-Sep-26; 71 minutes
This message examines the danger of pursuing originality, superiority, and human wisdom at the expense of truth, using Paul's correction of the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 1-4 as its central framework. True distinction, it argues, does not come from transgressing tradition or conforming to the world's patterns, but from belonging to Christ and growing in God's wisdom. Paul exposes the Corinthians' pride, factionalism, and misplaced confidence in human leaders, contrasting worldly wisdom with the spiritual understanding revealed through God's Spirit. While human reasoning has value in physical matters, spiritual truth requires the mind of Christ. The Corinthians' arrogance showed that, despite possessing God's Spirit, they were still thinking carnally and elevating men rather than Christ. Paul reminds them that ministers are merely servants, Christ is the foundation, and all glory belongs to God. Their supposed superiority was exposed by the humble suffering and faithful service of the apostles.
