Our Reliance on the Good Shepherd

description: (hide) Being compared to sheep is very humbling. Among the most gregarious of animals, they are also perceived by many people as gullible and not very intelligent, perpetually getting themselves in trouble looking for grass on the other side of the fence, continually straying from protection. We, like sheep, also have the proclivity to stray from God's protection, following our own path to what we think are greener pastures, while in fact only placing ourselves in mortal danger. If we repent, bleating for our life, our Shepherd will rescue us. The Lamb of God who died for us has become the Shepherd to guide us. Our Shepherd is keenly attuned to our bleating; we have also been conditioned to the sound of His voice.
