Remembering that God declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:9-11), time can be viewed as our greatest adversary or our principal asset, depending on how we use this essential commodity to conform to the purpose God has intended for us. To ignore His guidance is wasteful, arrogant, and foolish. God is sovereign over time; indeed, time is one of His many constructs. Time is what Satan desires to take from us, and he succeeds only if we believe him rather than the Creator of time. We have been called to be vessels of honor, reminding us that we have been given free will to choose life or death, just as He offered our forebears on the Sinai. God is mindful of our weakness and our propensity to sin, but He also holds us responsible for our own sins, not permitting a sin we cannot avoid or overcome to tempt us. Our insight into the past or future is dependent on the knowledge that He has given and that we discern and understand. Our awareness of the present is limited to our tiny circle of experience. Choosing willfully to master each day as it is given to us is the pinnacle of self-mastery, for all other things fall in line with wisely using time in accordance with the will of God. Consequently, we must let our works, the living record of our lives, loudly declare our future from today that we are the children of the promise, so that when the master of time looks upon us, He sees His finished work, His image in us, declared to be His purpose from the beginning of days.
