A Name's Significance

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

The principle of names being important is evident in the Bible, where God names things according to their nature and purpose. In Luke 10:20, Jesus instructs His disciples not to rejoice in their power over demons, but rather that their names are written in heaven. This suggests that having one's name recorded in heaven is of greater significance than any earthly power or authority. The disciples were given spiritual power to change themselves and build godly character, which is recognized by God through the inclusion of their names in the Book of Life. This heavenly recognition elevates their names to a divine level, emphasizing that living up to God's name, which is placed upon them, is far more important than any physical or spiritual power they might possess.

Jesus' Pre-Existence
