What Is the Proper Christian Perspective on Dreams and Visions?
Bible Questions & AnswersIt is not always easy to determine the origin of a vision, dream, or premonition that one might experience. We must be very careful about ascribing to God any such communication, even if it is supernatural. We are warned to test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Sometimes false ministers use dreams and visions to deceive God's people and create a following for themselves. God instructs us to test the spirits by turning to the law and to the testimony of the Bible. If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Unless a dream or vision agrees completely with the Bible in its message and content, we can know it is not of God.
