God Has Faith in You
Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by John O. ReidBrethren, despite the vile and fallible nature of mankind, God has unwavering faith in us to fulfill His plan. He has called us with the assurance that no temptation will be too great, planning for us to become more than conquerors and co-heirs with Jesus Christ. His desire is to bring many sons to glory, and He proclaims that He is not willing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. God's plan will stand, and He has complete confidence in us to become what He has destined us to be, providing His power to help us succeed. God has demonstrated this faith through countless examples. He trusted Noah, a man with no shipbuilding knowledge, to build the ark and save mankind from destruction, and Noah honored that trust with His help. God had faith in Moses, despite his initial doubts, to free His people and establish a nation, and Moses became a mighty leader. Abraham, though he doubted at times, grew in faith to become the father of the faithful, justifying God's trust in him. Paul, Jeremiah, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abed-Nego, Esther, Ruth, Deborah, Anna, Job, Peter, and the heroes of faith all faced trials and fears, yet God had faith in each to complete the tasks He set before them, and they did not let Him down. Brethren, God has called each of us with the same faith, trusting us to make it and to finish the course. He has set aside authority, power, and the right for us to become His sons and daughters, ensuring that we cannot miss if we trust Him. Our response must be to cooperate with Him, to embrace the changes and growth He desires, to set our minds to overcome sin, and to reflect Him in our lives. We must go forward with complete confidence, knowing that God is with us in every circumstance and trial, fully committed to working out His purpose in us that we might share in everything He has.
